FKM provides furnace rolls for use as support rolls in annealing lines in the stainless steel industry. The quality of the roll surface is crucial for annealing thin strips of stainless steel which are around 0.2 millimetres thick.
The coverings are made of pieces of material, which is resistant to high temperatures, which are pressed onto a steel core in the axial direction. To this end, ceramic and other inorganic fibres are combined with filler material and organic binding agents. This mixture ensures consistent, low shrinkage at temperatures between 900°C and 1,200°C. This means that, even when regularly exposed to high temperatures, the coverings remain free from tear for a long period of time and can be reground multiple times. This allows FKM to increase the lifetime of its roll coverings considerably.
We provide complete new rolls, regrind coverings which can be used again and replace coverings, disposing of the old coverings as part of the service.
